Join Our Team – Outreach Worker

We are currently seeking a full-time Outreach Worker to join a dynamic organisation. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating, planning, and delivering personalised lessons to bridge educational gaps among students. This role involves working with students off-site, including in their homes, to provide tailored instruction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Safeguarding, and Child Protection policies and procedures.
  • Attendance at relevant safeguarding training to maintain an up-to-date understanding of best practices.
  • Delivery of personalised lessons to students off-site, including their homes.
  • Development of comprehensive lesson plans, assessment of students' abilities, and identification of areas for improvement.

 

Additional Duties:

  • Communication with parents/guardians to address concerns and issues.
  • Staying current with the national curriculum and teaching trends.
  • Maintaining expertise in relevant subjects.
  • Contribution to Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
  • Research and development of resources tailored to students' needs.

 

Further Expectations:

  • Collaboration with colleagues to benefit students.
  • Liaison with specialised agencies, businesses, colleges, and relevant organisations to create opportunities for young people.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Fulfilment of team teach requirements and proportionate use of restraints if necessary.
  • Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date student records.

 

Other Duties Include:

  • Preparation for and attendance at meetings with parents, professionals, staff, and relevant individuals as required.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Commitment to personal professional development and training.
  • Experience working with young people with special educational needs and challenging behaviour in an educational/vocational setting.
  • Knowledge of a vocational curriculum.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young people naturally.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • A firm yet friendly approach when interacting with young people.
  • Interest in various aspects of the school curriculum and active contributions to their development.
  • Strong administrative skills, including proficient use of information and communication technology (ICT).
  • Excellent organisational skills to effectively plan and adapt learning to meet students' personalised needs.
  • Thorough understanding of safeguarding and equal opportunities principles.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Full clean driving licence, relevant business insurance, and access to a personal vehicle are essential for this role.
