Minibus Driver

Smart Education is looking for an experienced minibus driver to join our team. As a driver, you will operate our student transportation service during school visits and other activities. This is a part-time position, working approximately from 12pm to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, during term time. The role offers between 20 and 22.5 hours per week.

To be eligible for this position, you must possess a full and clean driving licence with D1 classification, as well as an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. It is desirable to be a Sandwell approved driver.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely collect and drop off students at designated locations and specified times.
• Conduct a thorough daily inspection of the school bus prior to each journey to ensure it is roadworthy, serviceable, and meets safety requirements.
• Complete the daily and weekly inspection lists for the vehicle.
• Monitor the cleanliness of the bus and ensure appropriate levels of petrol and fluids for optimal efficiency and safety.
• Report any concerns regarding the vehicle's roadworthiness promptly to the Facilities Manager.
• Drive the school bus responsibly, adhering to safety regulations and speed limits.
• Supervise students on the bus to ensure their safety, including checks for appropriate seatbelt and headrest usage, and ensuring students remain seated throughout the journey.
• Enforce the school's minibus policy and report any incidents or unsatisfactory behaviour to the Deputy Head Pastoral.
• Communicate effectively with parents of students using the school's established protocols to ensure efficient and safe practices.
• Handle accidents/incidents and report them to the School Office or Deputy Head as required.
