Finance Assistant / Bursar Assistant

We are currently looking for school finance assistant / bursar assistant to work within a School office in Birmingham. This is a full time position with the working hours of 8.15am – 4.30pm Monday – Friday.

This position is to start September 2019 / January 2020. This is a permanent position.

You must have school administrative and finance experience within the last two years.

You must have

-the equivalent to A level in literacy and numeracy or above

-Good ICT skills

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

You should have a knowledge and understanding of accountancy practices, sales ledger processes, office practices and GDPR

This position would be ideal for a candidate who aspires to continue a career within educational clerical sector.

Key Tasks

• To produce financial reports as and when required and requested by the Bursar.

• To produce the school’s monthly pay role and to record pension contributions.

• To reconcile the parent/ billing, purchase and nominal ledgers.

• To reconcile termly fee invoices and extras, advances and arrears on the school’s account systems.

• To ensure that parents are billed in line with school’s registers.

• To enter receipts and payments against accounts – for both the billing/ parent and nominal ledgers.

• To take responsibility for the collection of outstanding fees. To produce chase letters and chase late payers for all outstanding fees. To liaise with debt collection agencies to assist debt recovery.

• To deal with parent enquiries.

• When required to reimburse staff for petty cash and to record and reconcile the Petty cash book.

• To register bank transactions and record money received from events.

• Banking. – When required to take cheques and cash recorded in the paying in book to the bank.

• To take and record credit and debit card transactions.

• To monitor budgets for the teaching staff and department budgets.

• When required to arrange routine maintenance and repairs of school equipment.

• To assist the Bursar with aspects of the school’s site management.

• To carry out all aspects of general office administration

• Completing DBS check applications.

• To monitor the school’s Single Central Register

General Tasks

• To work effectively as part of a team and to promote the smooth running and efficiency of the Bursar’s department and financial management of the school.

• To work within the agreed framework of the school’s policies and procedures.

• To attend staff meetings, staff development and training as appropriate to your position.

• To carry out such other duties which will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department and school.

• To liaise with outside agencies as appropriate.

• To keep all data regarding the school, pupil, parents and staff confidential at all times.

YOU MUST HAVE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE / SCHOOL RECEPTIONIST EXPERIENCE TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION

Salary: Based upon the individual’s qualifications and experience

Hours: 8:15am – 4.30pm every day Mon – Fri
