Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist setting in the Kings Norton area. The setting supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom may display challenging behaviour and require consistent, structured support to engage in learning.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who has experience working in schools, PRUs, Alternative Provision or children’s residential settings, and is confident supporting pupils with behavioural needs.

Job requirements:
• Minimum Level 3 Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent)
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above)
• At least 6 months’ experience working with children or young people
• Experience supporting challenging behaviour (school, residential, PRU or AP settings)
• Ability to build strong, professional relationships with pupils
• Patient, resilient and consistent approach
• Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Ability for us to obtain 24 months of recent references
• Available full-time with an immediate start
Role responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
• Support pupils to manage behaviour and emotional regulation
• Assist with learning activities and engagement in lessons
• Implement behaviour strategies and individual support plans
• Support during transitions, breaktimes and structured activities
• Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
• Promote a safe, consistent and positive learning environment
