Teaching Assistant

Smart Education is currently recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant for a pupil referral unit in Smethwick. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have previously worked in a similar environment and possess experience in managing challenging behaviour.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the teaching staff in delivering tailored and engaging lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to students, including those with challenging behaviour.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and interventions.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to promote their social and emotional development.
  • Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of student progress.
  • Help develop and implement individualized learning plans.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on students' performance and behaviour.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and resource organisation.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment that promotes academic and emotional growth.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals
  •  

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a pupil referral unit or similar educational setting is essential.
  • Proven experience in managing challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education or Childcare are highly desirable.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and interventions.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with students with diverse needs.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

 

Qualifications Required: 6+ Months minimum experience. NVQ Level 2 or Level 3

Salary: £20,060 per annum (Pro-rata)

Hours: 32.5 per week

Location: Smethwick
