1:1 Teaching Assistant

SMART Education recruits into Teaching Jobs in Birmingham and across the West Midlands, and into Home Tutor jobs across the UK.

Are you passionate about enhancing the education of students with special needs? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant position at a school in Solihull. In this role, you will be supporting a Year 9 student with an EHCP and additional needs related to Social Emotional and Mental Health. You will provide 1:1 support, motivation, and guidance to help the student overcome obstacles in their learning. The school is easily commutable from Bickenhill, Castle Bromwich, Knowle, Shirley, and Central Birmingham, and offers a positive and respectful environment for both staff and students.

To be successful in this role, you should have a passion for supporting the development of children and young people with special requirements, as well as knowledge of the school curriculum and learning stages. You should hold an NVQ level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning and have significant experience working with SEND pupils on a 1:1 basis. Additionally, you should have a working knowledge of teaching targets from the broad areas of need within SEND, including targets from EHCPs and SSPPs. It would be beneficial to have an in-date DBS registered to the update service, although the school can arrange this for you if needed.

Patience, resilience, and approachability are essential traits for this role, as well as effective communication skills to collaborate with the SENDCO, class teacher, external agencies, and parents regarding SEND pupils' learning and progress. This is a funded role with a one-year contract, and you can start immediately. Don't miss out on this perfect opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students with special needs.
