The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised support to help pupils access learning, develop new skills, and build confidence and independence. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group support
  • Assisting pupils with Autism and communication challenges
  • Supporting pupils with learning disabilities, SLD, PMLD, and complex needs
  • Helping pupils as guided by EHCPs and individual support plans
  • Using visual, sensory and structured learning strategies
  • Fostering communication, interaction and engagement
  • Developing pupil independence and life skills
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Adapting activities and resources for individual needs
  • Collaborating closely with teachers and other professionals
  • Providing consistent, nurturing support
  • Following safeguarding procedures at all times

 

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Previous experience in a school, specialist setting or SEND education environment
  • Confidence supporting Autism, learning disabilities and/or complex needs
  • Experience providing both 1:1 and small-group support
  • Understanding of varied learning and communication needs
  • Patient, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Team player who works effectively with others
  • Teaching Assistant or SEND-related qualifications are desirable
  • Ability to provide references for your most recent 24 months
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

  • Daily rate: £95.00 – £109.25
